Ice Fishing Tackle
Today's lines of ice fishing tackle are enormous and it doesn't show signs of slowing down anytime soon. A run to the local sporting goods store for ice fishing tackle can be intimidating, but where do you start? Well first it depends on what species you'll be fishing and what types of fishing you do. If you're the jigging type, like to fish dead stick rods, or like to run tip ups, there's ice fishing tackle designed just for you.

For smaller species such as panfish or perch, you're going to want to go light. An assortment of light jigs in either vertical or horizontal style are the best places to start. The same can hold true for walleyes and trout, but you'll also want to add flash such as spoons and "swimmers" that are shaped like minnows. And for pike you'll want to make sure you've got heavy enough line and jigs or trebels depending on whether you're jigging or using tip ups. Glowing series of ice fishing tackle is hot these days, you'll want to add some of those to your lineup as well.
