Ice Fishing Rods
Remember your first ice fishing rod? If you've been fishing long enough through the ice, you probably could go on in great detail as to the specifics of that rod. Mine had the spike that stuck in the snow. Ice fishing rods these days are moving almost as fast as freshwater fishing rods. They're getting lighter, more sensitive, and some even come with batteries.
The rods that come with batteries will automatically jig or twitch for you. Heck, these ice fishing rods even come with different settings. When chosing your rod, length and stiffness is the most important. The standard length is 24" but you can get them up to 30" or even more. For small fish, you'll want light or even ultra-light. For larger fish you'll want to go as high as even medium-heavy. Keep in mind, when buying an ice fishing rod that you can get away with just a bit lighter than in the summer. Fish are usually a bit more inactive and don't require the muscle like in the summer months. |
